Khilgaon police arrested two suspects including an ex-councilor of DSCC over the killing of a grocery shop worker Mizanur Rahman during an anti-discrimination student movement.

The arrestees were former councillors of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Ward-74 Azizul Haque and Awami Swechhasebak League leader Obaidul Islam Rana.

Police said, Mizanur Rahman was an employee of a grocery shop at Banasree under Rampura Police Station, who was killed on July 19 during the anti-discrimination student movement.

Mizanur was going out of his house at 3pm on July 19 to open the shop. He received bullet injuries on his left leg near the Banasree police station area.

At first, he was admitted to a nearby hospital and later shifted to the National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) Hospital at Agargaon. He succumbed to injuries in the afternoon on that day.

On September 2, Kamal Hossain, father of Mizanur, filed a case with Khilgaon Police Station in this connection.

Police produced the arrestees before the court.
