Police not liable for Benazir’s personal crimes, says home minister

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said Bangladesh Police would not take responsibility for any personal crimes committed by former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed.

“An institution cannot be blamed if a person commits a crime,” he said while speaking during an event at Dhaka University on Saturday.

An investigation into allegations against him is ongoing. Once the investigation is completed, it will be discovered whether he is innocent or not, Mr Khan said.

On Benazir’s overseas travels with his family, the home minister said that he doesn’t have any information on whether Benazir has left the country or not.
