Ruling Bangladesh Awami League (AL) will hold peace rallies across the country today (Sunday) in response to a day-long countrywide hartal on the day called by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).
AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader announced the programme at its peace rally at the south gate of Baitul Mukarram mosque on Saturday.
"Awami League will hold peace rallies in the cities, districts, and upazilas across the country," he said, adding that the AL leaders and activists will remain alert throughout the country.
Who attacked the residence of the Chief Justice? Whoever beats the police, the game will be played against them, he said and added: "They (BNP) will not be spared."
Terming BNP's grand rally a 'grand downward journey', he said the BNP is a terrorist party that uncovered their real faces through their activities. "Trial of their offense will be conducted … No one will observe their strike."
