BNP has not announced any final decision regarding the removal of President Mohammed Shahabuddin after a meeting with leaders of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement and the Citizens' Committee. The party said it will discuss the matter within its forums and announce its decision later.
A three-member delegation led by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir met with seven leaders from the Anti-discrimination Student Movement and the National Citizens' Committee at the BNP Chairperson's political office in Gulshan on Saturday.
Following the meeting, Hasnat Abdullah, the convener of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement, said that they had discussed three key points with the BNP: how to establish and declare a 'Second Republic', how to expedite the removal of President Shahabuddin and resolve the ongoing political crisis. Additionally, they discussed how to govern while maintaining national unity.
Hasnat mentioned that the BNP has agreed to discuss these issues within their party forum and will inform them of their decision later.
He also revealed that they had previously met with Jamaat-e-Islami and the Islami Andolan Bangladesh, and both parties had expressed their support for the removal of the President.
Anti-discrimination Student Movement plans to hold further meetings with the Gono Forum, the 12-party alliance, and Gono Odhikar Parishad to discuss these issues.
