DUCSU election on Sept 9

The Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) and hall union elections are scheduled to be held on 9 September this year.

Chief Returning Officer Professor Dr Mohammad Jasim Uddin announced the schedule at a press conference held at the conference room of the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on Tuesday. The voting will take place from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm.

According to the schedule, the draft voter list will be published today, while students can lodge objections until 4:00 pm on 6 August. The final electoral register will be published on 11 August. On the other hand, nomination papers will be distributed from 12 to 18 August, which must be submitted by 3:00 pm on 19 August. The papers will be reviewed on 20 August, followed by the publication of the preliminary list of candidates on 21 August. The deadline for withdrawal of candidature is 25 August, and the final list of candidates will be published on 26 August.

Hall union elections will be conducted at six selective centres and the DUCSU election will be held centrally at the Senate Hall of the Nawab Nabab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban. The announcement has created a new wave of enthusiasm on the campus as students prepare to participate in the long-awaited election.

Members of the election committee who were present at the press conference include Professor Dr A S M Mahiuddin, Professor Dr Golam Rabbani, Professor Dr Kazi Mostak Gausul Haque, Professor Dr Kazi Maruful Islam, Professor Dr Nasreen Sultana, Professor Dr Md. Shahidul Islam, Professor Dr S M Shamim Reza, Professor Dr Tariq Monjur, and Associate Professor Sharmin Kabir.
