The High Court on Wednesday granted bail to BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman's wife Zubaida Rahman, accepting her appeal against her three-year jail sentence in a corruption case.
An HC bench of Justice Md Khasruzzaman passed the order after hearing a petition seeking appeal admission and bail in the case.
The court granted bail to Zubaida Rahman until the disposal of her appeal.
The HC also stayed the fine imposed by the lower court on Zubaida in this case and called for its record from the trial court.
Earlier on May 13 this year, the HC bench condoned her (Zubaida) 587 days' delay for filing the appeal against the trial court's verdict in the case.Zubaida's lawyers filed the appeal the same day, with the HC on behalf of her, who returned to Bangladesh from London on May 6 after 17 years.
