Law Adviser Asif Nazrul has described President Mohammed Shahabuddin’s statement regarding the resignation letter of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina as a lie.
The adviser came up with the statement at a press briefing at the secretariat on Monday.
“There is a question about his eligibility to remain as the president. If he (the president) sticks to his statement, the issue will be taken to the advisory council for the next course of action,” Asif Nazrul said.
He came up with the statement amid reports on President Mohammed Shahabuddin’s interview with Manab Zamin Editor Matiur Rahman Chowdhury. In the interview, the head of the state said he doesn’t have any documented evidence of the resignation of ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
