Prof Abdullah reappointed as PM’s personal physician

Nazrul Islam and Biplab Barua reappointed as PM's speech writer and special assistant respectively

Former chairman of the Department of Medicine of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) and Ekushey Padak winning physician Prof Dr A B M Abdullah was reappointed as Prime Minister's personal physician with rank of secretary on contractual basis.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification to this end on Sunday, reports BSS.

The notification mentioned that he will remain in office for the duration of the Prime Minister's term or subject to her satisfaction on condition of relinquishing working relations with other institutions and organisations.

Meanwhile, Md. Nazrul Islam was reappointed as the Prime Minister's 'Speech Writer' on a contractual basis.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification in this regard on Sunday.

"Md. Nazrul Islam has been given an appointment to the post of Prime Minister's Speech Writer at the Prime Minister's Office in the status and salary of a secretary of the government on a contractual basis from the joining date till the tenure of the Prime Minister or subject to her satisfaction (which happens earlier), on the condition of cancelling working relationships with other organisations," the notification said.

The conditions of the appointment will be fixed by the approved agreement, and this order will come into effect immediately.

Nazrul Islam earlier also served as speech writer to the Prime Minister (Secretary Status) from February 2019 until the third term of the Prime Minister. He was promoted to the post of Joint Secretary in 2015 and Additional Secretary in 2017.

Earlier, he served as Additional Press Secretary, Additional Press Secretary (grade 1), and Deputy Press Secretary to the Prime Minister since 2009. He was a member of the BCS 1984 batch (Information).

Nazrul Islam is an essayist, novelist, playwright as well as film and documentary maker as well.

A BSS report said Barrister Biplab Barua was reappointed as Special Assistant to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The notification mentioned that he will remain in office in the status of a deputy secretary (highest scale of Grade-5) for the duration of the Prime Minister's term or subject to her satisfaction from the date of his joining on condition of relinquishing relations with other institutions and organisations.

The conditions of the appointment will be fixed by the approved agreement, and this order will come into effect immediately.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister's special assistants, deputy press secretary (DPS), senior photographer, assistant private secretary (APS), protocol and assignment officers were also reappointed on contractual basis.

Ferdous Ahmed Khan and Dr. Shaheed Hossain were re-appointed as the premier's special assistants with the status of secretary while Agriculturist Md. Moshiur Rahman (Humayun) with the rank of deputy secretary.

Hasan Jahid Tusher was reappointed as the prime minister's deputy press secretary with the status of deputy secretary while S M Gorky got reappointment as senior photographer to the premier on Grade-5 of the government pay scale.

Gazi Hafizur Rahman Liku was reappointed as ASP-II on Grade-6 of the government pas scale, Md. Abu Zafar Raju as protocol officer-II on Grade-6 and Sanjit Chandra Das as assignment officer on Grade-9.
