Protesters have gathered at Dhaka’s Shahbagh again to demonstrate against the attacks on the Hindu community in various parts of the country following the fall of the Awami League government.
On Saturday, the crowd blocked traffic on all sides of the intersection after 3 pm to protest against the attacks on homes, businesses, and places of worship of Hindus, reports bdnews24.com.
Earlier on Friday, they blocked the Shahbagh intersection from 3:30 pm to 7:15 pm, holding a protest that lasted nearly four hours.
The protesters held several placards and banners and chanted various slogans while pressing for their four-point list of demands and the safety of the Hindu minorities.
Their four demands are as follows:
- The formation of a minority affairs ministry
- The establishment of a minority protection commission
- The enactment and enforcement of stringent laws to prevent all forms of attacks on minorities
- The reservation of 10 per cent of parliamentary seats for minorities
