The government has decided to exclude university teachers and employees from the ‘Prottoy’ universal pension scheme.
The decision was announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina after a meeting with the Peshajibi Shomonnoy Parishad at her official residence Gonobhaban on Saturday, according to bdnews24.com.
This means that university teachers and employees will no longer be included in the universal pension scheme.
MA Khair, public relations officer for the Ministry of Education said: “The names of university teachers and employees have been withdrawn from the pension-related Prottoy scheme. The honourable prime minister approved the summary of the withdrawal.”
The university teachers and employees were staging demonstrations against their inclusion in the Prottoy category under the universal pension scheme.
