Quota protests: Writ petition seeks compensation for deaths of four children

A lawyer has submitted a writ petition to the High Court seeking compensation from the government to the families of four children killed by bullets during the violence surrounding the quota reform protests.

Advocate Taimur Alam Khandaker made the petition to the relevant High Court branch on Wednesday, according to bdnews24.com.

Taimur said the petition had sought Tk 10 million in compensation and for a judicial investigation into each of their deaths.

Four children were killed during the quota protest movement. They are 4-year-old Abdul Ahad from Rayerbag in Dhaka’s Jatrabari, 6-year-old Ria Gop from Narayanganj’s Nayamati area, 11-year-old Shafkat Samir from the Mirpur-14 Housing Staff Quarters in Dhaka, and 15-year-old Naima Akhtar Sultana from Dhaka’s Uttara.
