Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will continue its efforts to recover illegal firearms during the upcoming national elections, said an official of the elite force on Saturday.
"Our (RAB) drive to recover illegal firearms is underway. We are also working to nab wanted criminals," director (media and legal wing) of RAB commander Khandakar Al Moin told the media at its Karwan Bazar office in the capital.
He said as per the constitutional provision after the declaration of polls schedule all executive branches are now cooperating with the Election Commission (EC).
He added RAB is executing all directives issued by the EC to the elite force.
He said RAB has provided escort to over 17,000 vehicles including passenger's buses, goods-laden trucks and lorries carrying petroleum products since the start of the opposition- called blockade.
He added they provided escort to keep the country's economy running.
