Railway Minister Nurul Islam Sujon has said that Bangladesh Railway (BR) will deploy around 2700 members of Ansar to prevent sabotage of the railways within a few days.
The minister made the announcement during a press briefing at Rail Bhaban on Tuesday, report agencies.
He said, to keep the train movement normal across the country, they are planning to deploy the force as it is difficult to prevent arson attacks with the present manpower of the railway department.
“Three hundred trains run across the country every day. And everyone's cooperation is needed to make railway journey safe,” said the minister.
“So far 2700 Ansar members have been requested from the Ministry of Home Affairs. The ministry has already approved. We hope to get this manpower in the next two days," he added.
Earlier on Tuesday, four people including a child were killed as arsonists set fire to the Dhaka-bound Mohanganj Express train in Tejgaon Railway station area around 6:45 am.
