Rain likely to drench country: Met office

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain or thundershowers in all divisions including Dhaka in 24 hours commencing 9:00 am on Sunday.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at many places over Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi Rangpur and Dhaka divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions,” said a met office update.

The country’s highest 164-millimeter rainfall was recorded in Kurigram’s Rajarhat upazila in 24 hours till 6:00 am on Sunday, reports UNB.

Day and night temperatures may rise slightly over the country, according to the BMD.

The country’s highest temperature was recorded in Rajshahi at 34.4 degrees Celsius over the past 24 hours till 6:00 pm on Saturday while the lowest temperature 23.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Rajarhat till 6:00 am on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the low pressure area over the North Bay of Bengal & adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh has become unimportant and merged with the monsoon axis.

Monsoon trough runs through Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
