Amidst the sweltering heat, the gentle touch of rain has brought relief to residents of the capital in the wee hours of Friday.
Residents of different areas in Dhaka said they experienced brief spells of rain after midnight that gave them a respite from a punishing heat.
Bangladesh has been witnessing a moderate to severe heatwave for the last several days with the temperature reaching record 43.8°C in a few districts.
A cool breeze started to blow after the rain.
According to bdnews24.com, heavy rain and storms occurred around midnight in areas like Old Dhaka, Jatrabari, and Mirpur along with intense winds and loud thunderclaps.
In Mirpur-12, people were seen rejoicing and getting drenched in the rain on balconies, roofs, and streets. Some even shouted slogans.
Rain was also reported in areas like Uttara, Khilkhet, Moghbazar, and the Sixty Feet area.
