Rajshahi University (RU) has been declared closed for an indefinite period from Wednesday amid protests over quota system in government jobs.
The university authorities asked the students to leave residential halls by 12:00 pm on Wednesday.
According to BSS, a press release issued by the public relation office of the public university last midnight said the closure decision was taken taking the security issue of the students into special consideration.
The decision was taken in an emergency meeting of the syndicate, the highest policy making body of the country's second largest university, as per the government decision last night.
The University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) on Tuesday said all public and private universities across Bangladesh will remain closed until further notice.
