Record 2,292 dengue patients hospitalised in a day

Bangladesh reported 2,292 new dengue cases in the 24 hours till Sunday morning, the highest number of hospitalisation in a day from the mosquito-borne disease this year.

During the period, nine more deaths were reported from dengue, raising the fatalities from the infection to 176.

Of the new patients, 1,064 were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka and the rest outside it, according to DGHS, reports UNB.

A total of 7,175 dengue patients, including 4,149 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.

So far, the DGHS has recorded 32,977 dengue cases and 25,626 recoveries this year.

The country logged 281 dengue deaths in 2022 – the highest on record after 179 deaths recorded in 2019. Also, it recorded 62,423 dengue cases and 61,971 recoveries last year.
