A review committee has recommended raising the maximum age limit for entering government jobs to 35 years for men and 37 years for women.
This information was reported by the private television channel Jamuna TV, citing sources from the committee.
The report suggests this age limit adjustment based on an overall assessment of the current situation. The recommendation may be finalised after discussions in an advisory council meeting. However, no suggestions were made regarding the retirement age.
Sources indicate that the review committee took into account factors such as the country's education system, exam formats, and employment opportunities when making this recommendation.
It's worth noting that a section of job seekers has been demanding for several years that the age limit for government job applications be increased to 35 years.
In this context, a committee was formed on September 30, headed by former secretary Abdul Muyeed Chowdhury, to review the age limit for entering government jobs. They submitted their report to the government one week later.
Senior Secretary to the public administration ministry Mokhlesur Rahman was appointed as member-secretary of the committee.
