Road accidents in October claim 475 lives

In October, there were 452 road accidents in the country in which at least 475 people were killed and 815 injured. This month, 76 people were killed and 24 injured in 63 accidents on railways.

Secretary General of Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity disclosed the information to the media on Saturday. This information was revealed in a report sent by Mozammel Haque Chowdhury. The organisation prepared the report by monitoring the news of organised accidents on roads, rail, and waterways published in widely circulated and credible national, regional, online, and electronic newspapers. 

Besides, 24 people were killed, 36 injured and nine went missing in 19 accidents on waterways, as per a local daily.

During this period, 163 people were killed and 239 injured in 138 motorcycle accidents. This is 30.53 per cent of the total accidents, 34.31 per cent of the casualties, and 29.32 per cent of the injuries.
