A teacher of Rajshahi University (RU) was killed in a road accident in Rajshahi city early Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Dr Purangit Mahalder, associate professor of the Bangla department of the university.
The accident occurred on Monday afternoon at the Baro Rastar Mor area in the city. He was rescued and admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).
Dr Purangit succumbed to his injury at the ICU unit of the RMCH around 2:35 am, according to Professor Dr Md Akhtar Hossain Mazumder, the administrator of the university's public relations office.
"On behalf of the RU administration, I express my deepest condolences to his bereaved family members,” he said.
