RUCSU polls: Shibir, Chhatra Dal panels launch campaigns

After the announcement of panels for the Rajshahi University Central Students' Union (RUCSU), hall unions, and senate elections, leaders and activists from Islami Chhatra Shibir-backed Sammilito Chhatra Jote and BNP's student front, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, on Tuesday took to the campaign trail.

Activists from both panels were seen engaging with students at the university's Tukitaki Chattar in the noon.

Sammilito Chhatra Jote's vice-president (VP) candidate Mostakur Rahman Zahid and Chhatra Dal's VP candidate Sheikh Nur Uddin Abir came face to face at the spot.

The two exchanged greetings and expressed hopes for mutual cooperation despite contesting for the same post.

RU Shibir president and VP candidate Zahid said, they are trying to reach students across campus. "Our friendly organisation Chhatra Dal's VP candidate Abir bhai is also working to revive the electoral atmosphere among students. Since the July revolution, except for Chhatra League, we all stand together. We are not rivals but competitors."

Mentioning the Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election, he said. "If the DUCSU polls can be held successfully, the spirit of RUCSU will also return among students and get wider reflection through media. Whoever wins, the victory will be of all of us."

The DUCSU election was being held on Tuesday.
