The Election Sub-Committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) is likely to start counting ballots on Saturday nearly 36 hours after the end of voting in SCBA election.

According to local news portals, the vote counting is likely to begin on Saturday afternoon.

SCBA voters exercised their franchise amid peaceful atmosphere on Wednesday and Thursday last.

Local news portals said some outsiders launched an attack on lawyers and members of the Election Sub-Committee during vote counting on early Friday.

Sources said at one stage, chief of the Election Sub-Committee Senior Advocate Freedom Fighter Abul Khair declared Juthi elected in the secretary post before vote counting ended.

However, Abul Khair told the FE that he was forced to declare Nahid Sultana Juthi elected.

Later, the ballots were kept in a sealed and secured room at the SCBA building

The Detective Brach (DB) of Police on Saturday told local news portals that five people were arrested over the clash during vote counting in the early hours of Friday.
