After 10 days of expulsion, Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon, the President of Supreme Court Bar Association, has been reinstated to the post of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Forum (BJAF), a platform of the pro-BNP lawyers.
A letter issued on April 29 by the forum said that with the consent of Tarique Rahman, acting Chairman of BNP, a decision was taken on April 25 to withdraw the letter that had relieved Khokon of the BJAF post.
The lawyer was removed from the post of Senior Vice-President of the forum, for taking charge as the President of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) violating the decision of the forum.
The decision to remove Khokon was taken at a meeting held at the BNP Chairperson’s Gulshan office on April 6 this year, said the letter issued to Barrister Khokon on April 20.
Earlier on March 27, the Ainjibi Forum asked Barrister Khokon, also a Joint Secretary General of BNP, to refrain from taking charge as President of the Supreme Court Bar Association as the forum would wage movement for a fresh election.
