Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has strengthened security measures in Sylhet to prevent sabotage attempts on the rail tracks and trains, reports UNB.
RAB-9 has strengthened security and surveillance on trains, especially at Sylhet railway station, to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent any untoward incidents amid arson and sabotage acts on trains in various parts of the country.
RAB-9 Commanding Officer Wing Commander Md Mominul Haque (GID-P), held a press conference at Sylhet railway station at 9pm on Friday to discuss the security measures.
The heightened security is not limited to Sylhet railway station but also extended to other railway stations in Sylhet division, he said.
Following the press conference, RAB members conducted sweeping operations on waiting trains and platforms.
Assistant Police Superintendent (Media Relations) Md Mashiur Rahman Sohel, in a press release sent to the media, reaffirmed the commitment of RAB-9 to ensuring the security of railway infrastructure.
Furthermore, regular, robust surveillance operations are being conducted at railway stations and check posts are being set up at crucial points, he said.
Additionally, strict vigilance is being maintained at critical points of stations to prevent the transportation of hazardous substances by miscreants.
