Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working for the wellbeing of the countrymen.
"Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is embracing Bangladesh with her utmost affection. She feels people's woes. So, she dedicated herself to the public welfare," he said while distributing blankets among the cold-hit low-income people at wards 16 and 17 in the capital.
The mayor also said that the blankets were the gift from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
"Only Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is with the ordinary people for their welfare. She will be with them in future too," he maintained.
As per the directives from the Prime Minister, around 10 million people have been given TCB cards and they are getting essential commodities at rational prices, Mr Taposh says.
Earlier, the DSCC mayor inaugurated the construction work on the second floor of Baitul Momin Hafizia Madrasha and Orphanage at Hatirpool in the capital.
Lawmaker Ferdous Ahmed, DSCC chief executive officer Md Mizanur Rahman, Dhaka South Awami League joint general secretary Kazi Morshed Hossain Kamal, ward-16 councillor Mohammad Nazrul Islam Babul and ward-17 councillor Md Mahbubur Rahman were present, among others.
