A Dhaka court has placed six members of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP on a two-day remand in a case lodged with the capital's Shahbagh Police Station for carrying out attack on students, laying siege to the secretariat and ransacking it.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Shakil Ahammed passed the order on Wednesday, placing Shariful Islam, Ahsan Habib, Moniruzzaman, Hasibur Rahman, Nasir Miah and Shafikul Islam on two-day remand each, BSS reports.

Sub-inspector Shamim Mir of Shahbagh Police Station filed the case against 208 Ansar members on August 26. Around 3,000 more unnamed Ansar men were also accused in the case.

Earlier on Sunday (August 25), despite the government's assurance of fulfilling their demands, Ansar members continued their demonstration around the secretariat, blocking all the gates. They clashed with students and people around 9:00 pm, injuring 50 people.
