Ziaul Hasan Siddiqui has resigned as chairman of Sonali Bank, following protests by its employees.
Ziaul tendered his resignation to the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance on August 19. The resignation was accepted on Tuesday, as confirmed in a letter signed by Deputy Secretary Afsana Bilkis.
The resignation came as Sonali Bank employees surrounded Ziaul Hasan on Monday, pressing for promotion of overlooked staff and revision of the bank's promotion policy.
