Squadron Leader Asim Jawad laid to rest with state honour

Squadron Leader Muhammad Asim Jawad, who died in a training fighter plane crash in Chattogram on Thursday, was laid to rest with state honour at his birthplace in Manikganj on Friday.

Local news portals said the Sword of Honour-winning brilliant officer of Bangladesh Air Force was laid to eternal rest after Juma prayer at a graveyard in the district town.

Before the burial, thousands of people joined his funeral prayers at Shaheed Miraj-Tapan Stadium in Manikganj.

Jawad succumbed to injuries he received when the YAK130 trainer fighter he was flying caught fire and crashed at Patenga in Chattogram due to mechanical fault on Thursday.
