Agitating students announced a nationwide demonstration march and rally for Tuesday at 3 pm, following an attack by Chhatra League activists. The protest, aimed at condemning the attack and demanding the withdrawal of the Prime Minister's statement, will be held across the country.
Nahid Islam, one of the coordinators, made the announcement at a press briefing near Karzon Hall gate at Dhaka University around 9:30pm on Monday.
"Today, we were attacked by outsiders in a planned manner. What is the duty of our university proctor? The government is trying to suppress this movement violently. We strongly condemn the Prime Minister's statement and call for people from all over the country to join us", he added.
Asif Mahmud, another student leader, said, "We were attacked tragically all over the country. I strongly condemn this incident and the failure of the VCs and proctors to provide us with security."
According to the protesters, they will also go for a planned blockade programme, and details about this will be unveiled on Tuesday.
