Students block Shahbagh intersection to protest quota reinstatement

A group of Dhaka University students on Tuesday staged protests in response to the High Court's verdict in favour of quota reinstatement in public services.

They brought out a procession from the central library of the university and took a position at the Shahbag intersection in Dhaka, putting a block on transport movement in the surrounding roads. After a blockade of more than one hour, they left the intersection.

The students also expressed determination to continue their agitation until the cancellation of the quota system.

Meanwhile, thousands of students from Dhaka University, Jagannath University, Dhaka College, Eden College, and other nearby institutions participated in the protest. They shouted slogans against the quota system, demanding its cancellation in government job recruitment.
