Quota protesters lift Shahbagh blockade, announce 'Bangla Blockade' for Sunday

Students and job seekers calling for the abolition of quotas in government jobs have lifted the blockade at Shahbagh intersection in Dhaka, announcing a new programme, the "Bangla Blockade," to start at 3 pm on Sunday.

They ended the blockade around 5 pm, after an hour, allowing traffic to resume through the intersection.

Earlier, at 4:37 pm, the protesters blocked the Shahbagh intersection, demanding the reinstatement of a 2008 government circular that abolished quotas in government jobs.
