At least three people have been killed and two others injured after a passenger bus hit an autorickshaw, locally known as an easy bike, in Natore's Baraigram Upazila.
The accident occurred around 2pm on Monday in the Gunaihati area along the Natore-Pabna regional highway, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Md Ifte Khayer Alam.
The dead have been identified as Ansar Ali, 60, easy bike driver Munser Pramanik, 60, and Nayon, 26.
Police said the accident occurred when a Kushtia-bound Kalpana Express bus rammed the easy bike from behind, leaving the vehicle in a crumpled heap. Three passengers died instantly.
Locals rescued two injured passengers and took them to a nearby hospital. Their identities have not yet been confirmed.
“The bus has been seized, but the driver managed to flee,” said Bonpara Highway Police Station chief Ismail Hossain.
The bodies have been kept at Bonpara Highway Police Station.
Police say a case is being prepared in connection with the incident.
