Students of Jahangirnagar University held a torchlight procession on the campus to protest the vandalism and tearing of the national flag at the Bangladesh Assistant High Commission office in Agartala, India.

Students under the joint banner of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, Mass Uprising Protection Movement, Jahangirnar Reform Movement, Anti-Hegemony Forum, and Revolutionary Cultural Forum started a torchlight procession at 9 pm from the university’s Battala and circled various roads of the campus. More than 500 students participated in the protest procession.

At the end of the procession, speakers said, “The attack on our embassy in India means an attack on the sovereignty of our country. As an independent country, we will not accept it. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi must apologize for this incident.”

Every citizen in our country is free, no minority, namely Hindus, has been attacked. Indian media is spreading propaganda that Hindus are being persecuted in Bangladesh.

It is worth noting that tension has spread in India over the arrest of ISKCON leader Chinmoy Das, who was expelled from Bangladesh, in the wake of the statement of BJP leader Subhendu Adhikari.
