Trader stabbed dead in Chattogram for resisting extortion

A trader was reportedly stabbed to death after protesting against extortion in the Dhuppul Mistripara area of Chattogram on Sunday night.

The victim, identified as Md Muslim Uddin (48), was fatally attacked after he opposed an extortion attempt in a local shop, according to local sources. Witnesses say a heated argument broke out between Muslim and the suspect, which escalated, leading to the fatal stabbing.

Police confirmed that Muslim was stabbed on the left side, just above his waist.

The victim owned a scrap metal shop in the area, and authorities suspect there had been prior disputes involving the shop with certain individuals.

An investigation is underway.
