Two more people have died from dengue in Bangladesh in the 24 hours till Wednesday morning, bringing this year's death toll from the mosquito-borne disease to 81, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The latest fatalities occurred within the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
During the same period, 386 new dengue patients were hospitalised across the country, raising the total number of confirmed cases this year to 20,702.
Among the cases, Barishal Division accounted for the highest with 106, followed by 64 in Chattogram Division (outside city corporations), 62 in Dhaka Division (outside city corporations), 49 in DSCC, 29 in Dhaka North, 45 in Rajshahi Division, 23 in Khulna Division, five in Mymensingh Division, and three in Rangpur Division.
Currently, 1,289 dengue patients are undergoing treatment in hospitals. Meanwhile, no new Covid-19 cases were reported in the country during the 24-hour period ending at 8:00 AM on Wednesday.
