The much-awaited verdict in the case over the murder of actor Sohel Chowdhury 25 years ago will be delivered today (Thursday).
Judge Arunabh Chakraborty of Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-2 will pronounce the verdict.
According to court documents, five of the nine accused in the case are absconding. They are businessman Aziz Mohammad Bhai aka Abdul Aziz, Trump Club owner Afaqul Islam aka Bunty Islam, Salim Khan, Haroon Or Rashid alias Leather Litton aka Boss Litton and Adnan Siddiqui.
Three other accused – Ashish Roy Chowdhury aka Bottle Chowdhury, Tariq Saeed Mamun and Farooq Abbasi are on bail – while Sanjidul Islam Imon is in custody.
Sohel Chowdhury was shot dead in front of the Trump Club at Banani in the capital on December 17, 1998.
Later, the Detective Branch (DB) investigation revealed that the actor was killed by hired goons following a row with Aziz Mohammad Bhai, Trump Club owner Banti Islam and Ashish Roy Chowdhury.
