Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) panel raised allegations of several irregularities, including uneven playing field, in Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) election.
Speaking at a press conference in front of Madhur Canteen on Monday, the candidates expressed their concerns.
JCD highlighted malpractices by a female candidate, who broke dormitory rules by allegedly campaigning through entering into a university dormitory which is not her own. Moreover, students and guests are not allowed to enter women's dormitories after 10 PM without the permission of hall authorities.
Vice President (VP) candidate Abidul Islam Khan said, "The question of a level playing field has already come up. For example, a female candidate is not allowed to enter other dormitories freely. Yet, last night after 1:00 am, Umama Fatema was seen in Rokeya hall. She later apologised, but breaking the rules and then apologising should not be normalised. We expect the Election Commission to take effective action in this regard."
Abidul also alleged that false information was being spread through various Facebook groups and pages linked to the university. "Despite letters being sent to BTRC, these pages are still active.
