Chita, a member of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) dog squad, was awarded medal on Monday for its heroic role in rescue operation after a massive explosion in a 7-storey building in the capital's Siddique Bazar area recently.
This is for the first time that a dog was given RAB Director General (DG) award (medal) for its courageous role in tracing out three dead bodies in the severely damaged building on March 7.
RAB DG M Khursid Hossain fitted the medal to Chita's neck at a ceremony held at the elite force headquarter at Kurmitola in the city.
The event was organised marking the 19th founding anniversary and memorial day -2023 of RAB.
Chita helped the RAB to find out three bodies at Siddique Bazar damaged building.
