Syed Manzur Elahi, chairman of Apex Group, and his wife Niloufer Manzur, the founding head of Sunbeams school, have contracted COVID-19.

According to a message received from the Manzur Family, Mrs Manzur tested positive for the virus and is in critical but stable condition in ICU at CMH, where she is receiving the best possible care.

Manzur Elahi also tested positive but did not develop any symptoms so far by the Grace of Allah. He is being taken care of in his home.

"We seek all your prayers and support for the family in this difficult time", according to the message received from the family. 

Manzur Elahi, 78, is also a former adviser to two caretaker governments, publisher of The Financial Express (FE) and managing director of the FE’s owning company International Publications Limited (IPL).

Niloufer established Sunbeams, an English medium institution, in 1974. She is also involved with a social marketing company.
