Picard inks MoU with CRP

As part of the "Beyond Compliance" initiative of Leathergoods And Footwear Manufacturers & Exporters Association of Bangladesh (LFMEAB), Picard Bangladesh Ltd signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Inclusive Job Centre of Centre For The Rehabilitation Of The Paralysed (CRP) under the initiative of Promotion of Social and Environmental Standard in the Industry (PSES) recently.

The objective of this MoU is to facilitate career opportunities of persons with disabilities in the Picard Bangladesh Ltd. Further, it sets forth the role & responsibilities of each party in implementing the inclusive demand oriented employment of persons with disabilities at Picard Bangladesh Ltd through the services of Inclusive Job Centre-CRP, said a statement.

Under the MoU, IJC will identify persons with disabilities who eager to work at leather and footwear factories from community level and will enhance their existing capacities.

Hence, Picard Bangladesh Ltd will inform IJC, CRP about the placement of workers and IJC will provide persons with disabilities (Skilled/Unskilled workers) to recruit as employee of PICARD Bangladesh. In this regard, GIZ will facilitate technical infrastructure adjustment and make occupation place of persons with disabilities suitable for their employment. 

During the signing ceremony, Mr. Md. Saiful Islam, President of LFMEAB and Managing Director of PICARD Bangladesh Ltd, Md. Tauhidul Islam, Project Manager, Inclusive Job Centre, CRP-Mirpur, and Ms. Sarwat Ahmad, Senior Advisor, Promotion of Social and Environmental Standards in the Industry (PSES), GIZ, Bangladesh were present, among others.
