The securities regulator on Tuesday held a meeting with the representatives of three top conglomerates to inspire the listing of their companies in a bid to enhance the depth of the capital market.

The chairman of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), Khondoker Rashed Maqsood, chaired the meeting attended by Mostafa Kamal, chairman of Meghna Group of Industries, Md. Hasan, managing director of the City Group, and Mohammed Akhter Parvez, a director of PHP Group.

The BSEC said the listing of good companies is urgent for the capital market, according to a press statement.

"The regulator has discussed the issue of offloading the shares of good companies run under these three conglomerates," the BSEC said.

Referring to the speech of the BSEC chairman, the statement said Meghna Group, City Group, and PHP Group have companies in different industries, including chemicals, cement, real estate, insurers, health and shipping.

The chairman told the meeting that the country's capital market will be enriched if the top business groups make their good companies public.

Industrialisation in country and the companies' business will also flourish through public investments.

The BSEC will hold meetings with other conglomerates gradually in its efforts to develop the market, said the BSEC statement.
