Stocks have witnessed an upward trend as major indices of both Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges increased with higher activities of some large-cap securities on Tuesday.
DSEX, the prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), went up by 6.26 points or 0.10 per cent to settle at 6,245.24.
DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also followed the same trend, with 1.99 points, to close at 1,365.73.
However, DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, closed the day with 1.29 points down to finish at 2,087.64.
At the DSE, out of 338 securities traded, prices of 90 closed higher against 69 losing issues.
The day's trade value at the DSE increased to Tk 4,607.19 million, which was Tk 4,120.52 million in the previous session of the week.
The major gaining issues were BDTHAI, KPPL, 1STPRIMFMF, FUWANGCER and GLDNJMF. The major losing companies were SEAPEARL, STANCERAM, SONALIANSH, BEACHHATCH and IMAMBUTTON.
The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended the day with an upward trend, with its major CASPI gaining 13.29 points to close at 18,521.17.
At the CSE, 208 issues were traded, with 54 closing higher and 46 lower, as 5.019 million shares worth Tk 136.7 million changed hands.
