DSE director faces probe over share market manipulation

The Ministry of Finance has ordered the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) to conduct an investigation against Dr Abdullah Al Mahmud, independent Director of DSE, for alleged share market manipulation. 

The ministry sent a letter in this regard to the BSEC chairman on June 25, according to a local daily newspaper.

In the letter, the ministry instructed the BSEC to take action against Dr Abdullah Al Mahmud based on a report after completing the investigation within 30 working days. The ministry also ordered him to refrain from performing his duties at DSE during the investigation.

Recently a daily newspaper reported transactions of several shares through manipulation. The ministry gave the order of investigation after taking the report into cognisance.
