KAM Majedur Rahman, chairman of Maldives Islamic Bank, has expressed inability to take charge as an independent director to the board of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).

Local news portals said KAM Majedur Rahman sent a letter to the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) on Monday in this regard.

Farhana Faruqui, a BSEC spokesperson and director, confirmed that the commission received the letter sent by Majedur Rahman.

“The issue would be resolved soon,” the BSEC spokesperson added.

On September 1, the securities regulator announced appointments of seven independent directors, including Majedur Rahman, to the board of DSE following the recent resignation of all directors amid a change in the political regime.
