Pubali Bank celebrates its 64th anniversary

Pubali Bank Limited has celebrated its 64th anniversary through different programmes recently, according to a press release.

On the occasion of the anniversary, a casual ceremony was organised at the head office of the bank. Mohammad Ali, Managing Director and CEO of Pubali Bank Limited, celebrated the anniversary by cutting a cake as the chief guest.

Deputy Managing Directors- Mohammad Esha, Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, Ahmed Enayet Manzur, Md. Shahnewaz Khan and Mohammad Anisuzzaman and senior executives were also present.

Pubali Bank Limited is the largest private commercial bank in Bangladesh currently operating with 500 branches, 152 sub-branches, 17 Islamic Banking Windows and around nine thousand skilled workforces.

The press statement says the history of Pubali Bank has a close relationship with the country's history-tradition, socioeconomic development, freedom and sovereignty spirit.

The official journey of ‘The Eastern Mercantile Bank Limited’ started on May 19 in 1959 in Terribazar of Chattogram. After the Great War of Liberation in 1972, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman nationalised 'The Eastern Mercantile Bank Limited' and named it 'Pubali Bank' through an order issued by the President.

Later, in June 1983, as per a government decision, Pubali Bank was nationalised and converted into a public limited company.
