Stocks end negative

Stocks ended negative on Thursday as investors remained active on both sides of the trading fence while selling dominance on a particular large-cap. 

The prime index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) decreased 10.71 points to settle at 5,166.53.

The blue-chip index DS30, comprising 30 leading companies, decreased by 6.72 points to 1,913.03, while the DSES Index, representing Shariah-compliant companies, decreased by 4.18 points to 1,161.85 by the close.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 3.56 billion, down 13.74 per cent from the previous trading day.

The majority of the stocks saw a price decrease, as out of the 398 issues traded, 105 closed higher, 204 ended lower, and 89 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Oimex Electrode was the most-traded stock, with shares worth Tk 221.91 million changing hands, followed by Malek Spinning Mills, ADN Telecom, Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries, and Far East Knitting & Dyeing Industries.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended down with its All Share Price Index (CASPI) decreasing 69.39 points to settle at 14449 and the Selective Categories Index (CSCX) decreasing 38.30 points to settle at 8797.

The port city bourse traded 2.02 million shares and mutual fund units with a turnover volume of Tk 56.77 million.
