United Commercial Bank holds 40th annual general meeting

United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB) held its 40th Annual General Meeting on a virtual platform on Monday.

Mrs Rukhmila Zaman, chairman of the bank, presided over the AGM.

At the AGM, shareholders approved a 5 per cent Stock dividend and a 5 per cent cash dividend for the year ended December 31, 2022, according to a press release.

In her speech to shareholders, UCB Chairman Mrs Rukhmila Zaman said that UCB had generated attractive financial results in the previous year. UCB gained tremendous growth in every arena like operating profit, loans and advances, deposits etc.

She also expressed that UCB will continue to serve the interest of shareholders, clients and communities.                 

Executive Committee Chairman Mr Anisuzzaman Chowdhury; Independent Director and Audit Committee Chairman Mr Touhid Shipar Rafiquzzaman; Director Mr Bazal Ahmed; Director Mr Nurul Islam Chowdhury; Director Mrs Roxana Zaman; Director Ms Afroza Zaman; Director Mr Muhammed Shah Alam; Director Mr Kanak Kanti Sen; Director Mrs Masuma Parvin; Independent Director Dr Aparup Chowdhury and Independent Director Professor Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury virtually attended the AGM, among others.

Moreover, Managing Director and CEO of UCB Mr Arif Quadri and Chief Financial Officer Mr Faruk Ahammad were also present at the AGM.            

UCB Managing Director & CEO, Mr Arif Quadri sketched the backdrop of success and the cumulative scenario of the achievement of the bank in his speech. He told that UCB developed a balanced and sustainable business model against all obstacles through organic growth.  

The programme was conducted by the deputy managing director and company secretary of the bank, Mr ATM Tahmiduzzaman FCS.    

The press release says that being a leading first-generation private sector bank incepted in 1983, UCB is now well-poised and praiseworthy in the banking arena.
