The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) opened on a negative note on Wednesday morning, with its key indices—DSEX, the Shariah-based DSES, and the blue-chip DS30—each dropping by 1 point.
Alongside the decline in indices, the share prices of most companies also faced a downturn.
During the first hour, the prices of 148 companies decreased, while 110 gained and 98 remained unchanged.
The total turnover at the DSE surpassed Tk 1.2 billion (Tk 120 crore) within the first hour, according to a UNB report.
On the contrary, the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE) saw a positive start today, with its overall index rising by 15 points.
Out of 70 companies traded, 33 saw price increases, 25 faced declines, and 12 remained unchanged.
The turnover at the CSE during the first hour crossed Tk 12 million (Tk 1.20 crore).
