The 11th National SME Product Fair will begin next Sunday (May 19), aiming to promote the country’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
With the support of the Ministry of Industries, the SME Foundation is organising the weeklong fair at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the city’s Agargaon area.
Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun made the announcement at a press conference at the ministry on Wednesday afternoon.
Senior secretary to the Ministry of Industries Zakia Sultana, chairperson of the SME Foundation Masudur Rahman, managing director (additional charge) Salahuddin Mahmud and convenor of the working committee for the fair Rashedul Karim Munna were present during the briefing, among others.
Around 350 SMEs including a significant number of women entrepreneurs will participate in the fair this year to showcase and sell their goods.
Industries Minister Mr Mahmud Humayun said, "A secretariat of the SME Foundation to highlight its activities for the development of the SME sector will be available at the fair premises."
About 25 banks and financial institutions disbursing SME loans will participate in the fair, he said, adding that entrepreneurs will get an opportunity to directly discuss and consult with bankers for SME loans.
The fair premises will be open to visitors every day from May 19 to May 25, from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm.
