30 bank MDs to visit US

Managing directors from around 30 public and private banks are heading to the United States to join campaigns aimed at encouraging expatriates to deposit dollars in Bangladeshi banks under offshore banking accounts.

One of such campaigns is scheduled for May 24 at a hotel in New York, Bengali daily the Prothom Alo reports.

According to the report, 25 of the MDs will also attend an international banking conference organised by the US Department of Justice, which is to be held at the same time.

Bangladesh Bank has already approved the necessary documents for these MDs to travel abroad.
